The Buffalo Island Jr. District Livestock Show has been a Northeast Arkansas tradition since 1959. You and your family/business can support the activities of this event by: (1) representing your community/ clientele. (2) soliciting funds for premiums, (3) lending support for the youth of Northeast Arkansas. This year’s event features champion animals in SWINE, SHEEP, BEEF, POULTRY, RABBITS AND GOATS—all top show winners! The premium auction is a very special event in the lives of many young participants, ages 5 to 19, who see the premium auction as an important step in their chosen future careers in agriculture.

Bidding at the auction is easy, you’re bidding on a premium to be paid to the young exhibitor above the market value he/she will receive from any other buyer. Therefore, the amount you bid is the amount you pay. Don’t worry; the premium bid is not for possession of the livestock. However, you are welcome to bid in the market sale to purchase the animal for yourself.
The Buffalo Island Show also welcomes donations to a pool to increase the premium sale money.

The premium auction is one of the most thrilling and heartwarming events during the show. You won’t want to miss seeing the youth and their award-winning animals.
While at the auction, you will be joined by many Northeast Arkansas business and government leaders. These community leaders come to the premium auction each year because, just like you, they care enough to invest in the future of our community.
The Buffalo Island Jr. District Livestock Show is organized and conducted by University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Agents (active and former), area high school vocational agriculture instructors, Arkansas State University Agriculture professors, and many local volunteers.
